89 iroc z rough idle at night/colder temp

89 iroc z always is hard to start and has spiffy idle when temp changes. I know it has something to do with the intake air temp sensor because i took it to advanced muffles (Memphis TN) and they are tryna charge a arm and leg to replace/fix it. Can someone help/tell me if this is a job i can do on my own and if so pictures and details are greatly appreciated. Thank you

The air temp sensor is for controlling the EGR function. You could disconnect the EGR to test if it makes a difference. The car should idle ok without either the MAT or the EGR. If you're going to attempt to fix yourself, then you have to start troubleshooting.

If that fixes it you can do the mat relocation kit instead of pulling the plenum there usuall $40 bucks and you can easly install it in your air filter cover.
