What would be the effect of longer runners?

My apologies if this is a silly question, but I am new to this engine. What would be the effect of using TPI runners that are 1" or 2" longer? Do you have to do any tuning to compensate?
Any feedback would be appreciated...

Re: What would be the effect of longer runners?

.. The power band of the engine would be lowered a few hundred RPMs from where it is now.. torque might be enhanced a bit, but peak a couple/three hundred RPMs lower..

.. The current runners are already considered too long for engines bigger than 305 cubic inches... and hold down HP above 4500 RPMs on bigger engines...

.. '91 TPIs are MAP and don't self-compensate well to changes...

.. Those early 1960's Chrysler crosss rams came in a low RPM street version with full 30" runners and a race version with each pair of runners cast siamesed together for the first 15"...

And cold start on those older carbed cars was nasty due to fuel puddling under the carb..
