Ok, so I just drove my 87 trans am gta with the 5.7 1100 miles from arkansas to orlando with NO probelms! I got around 25 mpg too! Well I get to orlando and drive it for the first two days with NO problems! Then going to meet a friend for lunch the car hesitates and seems to misfire during excelleration. I checked the fuel injectors hot and cold and all read 17.2 or 1 to 2 tenths diffrence. It has consitant fuel pressure and the fuel pump is also reading fine. Pulled every spark plug and they all look good, #1 cylinder had just the littlest off oil on it but wasnt enough to cause major concern right now since itll be rebuilt in 3 months or closer. Plug wires are new. I dont believe it to be the tps. Not sure where else to look. Its not throwing any codes either. Ive read similar issues but nothing exactly the same so I figure I have some wierd issue and its prolyl a simple fix or a major fix lol

 

Forgot to add that it doesnt idle rough! I have seen that almost all have rough idles. Mine does not idle wierd at all. Its all when taking off. Also when it starts misfiring on take off and you get up to speed where it isnt messing up anymore and you let off the gas it jerks like the transmission is downshifting really hard but never down shifts

 

I would check the TPS first.

 

Well I just went and bought a TPS and it seemed to fix the proble mbut now my engine temp gauge pegged out, my right turn arrow inside the car stays on, and the blinkers dont work. No fuses are blown. I havent had any issues with this car till now! Anyone want a 87 trans am gta? lol

 

Sounds like you have a bad/shorted bulb.
