Carburator to TPI how do you do it?

How do I swap a 87 5.0l 4bbl to TPI I found a guy that will sell me the TPI top for $100 so I was thinking on doing it, any benefits from doing this HP or fuel efficiently wise? I know I have been doing allot of posting lately about different cars but It looks to me as if my 88 will be sold tomorrow then I will be buying a friend of mines 87 Z28 for 1000 if he still has it, It sure is a rusty car lol.

It's going to take a lot more than just the TPI top. You'll have to take off the carb, then replace the intake, distributor, fuel system, computer, all the sensors and wiring...

If its all done right you'll probably see an increase in torque and fuel economy - but Apeiron is right its much more than just bolting the top end up. It could turn into a PITA trying to source wiring and connectors unless you find a whole donor harness. Is there a difference in distributors? My 87 4 barrel has a small cap remote coil setup (or at least it did from the General) didn't the TPI have the same?

The TPI comes from a 1991 Camaro and he says its a speed density model.
he say it comes with Accel 19# injectors, BBK adjustable fuel pressure regulator, throttle body and air foil for throttle body.

If you really wanted TPI and you had the whole car to swap everything from it might be worthwhile. Otherwise there's too many missing parts if you've only got the induction system.

Re: Carburator to TPI how do you do it?

Hey guy's, new to the forum.
I'm gonna bolt a 1986 tpi to a 400 in a 1974 monte carlo.
Im not interested in any power gains, just cruise ability and the wow effect when the hood is popped at the car shows.
I have everything covered as far as mechanicals, what I need is a prom
burned for maf, no egr, 9th inj. delete, no vss.
the 400 is a completely stock low horsepower motor, turbo 350, It's the wife's car. what would the best combo be for me? sorry for being all over the place with the questions. just getting a little burned out with all the reading! 3 days straight! thanks in advance guys!
