I have a 91 z28 that is the up for debate slp dealer car. My problem started as a fuel pump. Changed that, then it was injectors, changed them. Now the car runs but idles around 4k! I'm absolutely new to these set up and im already at my wits end. Im going today to have the exhaust put on and I'm sure I'll be back to the idle problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a Hayes manual but I haven't really found this problem in it. The car also has new plugs and wires. I also have a code tool and it's not showing any codes as well. I checked all vacuume lines and they are all ok. As for the sensors throttle adjustment and things like that I'm clueless so I'll need as much help as I can get.

Re: Need help ASAP extremely high idle
Sounds like a very big vacuum leak. When you reassembled the TPI, did you make sure that all your gaskets were new, and that all the bolts were tightened down? I had that problem when I had ASM Siamesed runners on my car. Turns out I forgot to tighten one side...

I'd also check the TPS. The voltage should read less than .92v if you have a 91-92 speed density car. You will need a digital voltmeter and with the ignition turned on, car off, I believe you have to probe the top and bottom wires (double check in manual, I could be wrong) to check for the voltage reading. However, if you did not touch your TPS, I don't suspec that to be the problem, unless the TPS itself has gone bad. However, the 91-92 sensors are nonadjustable anyway...

I'm gonna check the bolts for the millionth time lol but I'm certain they are tight. As for changing anything else I didn't change or unbolt a single thing

Where is the speed density sensor located at?

Re: Need help ASAP extremely high idle
There's no such thing as a speed density sensor. The closest thing is the MAP sensor (Manifold Absolute Pressure) which is located on the side of the TPI plenum.

Did you use new gaskets?
