aluminum heads

I have a stock 90' L98 with IRON heads. is there any aluminum heads I can put on without changing valves or anything? just bolt em on and go to reduce weight and gain a little power? dont want to spend 800$ just wondering if anything from a junkward/ parted out car would work?

How much do you want to spend?

Only junkyard alum head are Vette L98 heads; hardly worth the trouble
Vortecs are the head of choice for cheap perf upgrade but they are cast iron so don't meet your criteria

Re: aluminum heads

No point in reusing old valves, not worth the hassle new valves and rockers are not expensive

Re: aluminum heads

Only way i can see you getting aluminum heads for 800 or less is a set of L98 corvette heads...which is ok but doesnt really get you THAT much farther ahead than a set of ported out stockers. If it were me i would save until you could afford a set of AFR heads or Dart pro1's. Both are in the 1200-1400 dollar range as are most aluminum heads.
