Air Foils: Are they worth a damn?
Hey im new to the camaro scene, i had a question about air foils ive seen these on web sites such as summit and i was wondering are they worth the money. do they increase hp or trq? I have a feeling they must do something if summit is selling them and i see them on a few mod lists on the forum. Any info would be great.

There's a lot of pro vs con regarding them on this forum. In the search box type 'air foil' and you'll see a lot of discussion about them.

Summit also sells these jokes, so I wouldn't put too much weight on that...

I think if you're looking for that last 1% of power, maybe something like the airfoil may be worth it. However, I think money spent elsewhere is a better bet. My only similar experience (which was eye opening for me) was on a dyno. LT1 with a TPI "Y" intake. I had one lower part complete with rain guards and another lower part that had that portion removed. Theory said there should be a difference in power, but on the dyno, not a lick of difference between the two (~272hp).

On stock throttle bodies the air foil will reduce turbulence at high throttle openings. How effective is this? I don't know. I certainly would be reluctant to buy into the claims made by some manufactures. Then again, if Myron Cottrel of TPIS thought it worthwhile to make one, Id at least give it a look.
