Re: Air Filter

I doubt that anybody has performed any kind of flow analysis on all available air filters, but frankly it doesn't matter. Most cars don't make enough power for the air filter to pose a restriction. My car runs the same 1/4 mile times regardless of whether the air filters are in or out.

Re: Air Filter

always used your typical run-of-the-mill Purolators. K&N's nice, but if you're not careful when re-oiling, you can gunk up stuff further down the line (MAF is the big one, if equipped)

Re: Air Filter

I personally don't really care for K & N. I had a drop in filter in my 01 monte carlo. The filter was cleaned and oiled per instructions from K & N. My MAF still got a bunch of oil on it. Was causing whole bunch of problems, until I cleaned it with CRC MAF cleaner. I just run a paper filter in it now. I would only run one in a car or truck without a MAF.

I use one of their open element air filters in my old carbed chevy truck I got for free. It doesn't have any problems in the truck. Then again it doesn't have a MAF sensor in it either.
