TPI rich, no start
Seen lots of these threads, but still having a really hard time with diagnosis. 1988 Camaro TPI 350, donor engine and harness. 7165 ecu with a 305 memcal so I got a G1 adapter with a custom chip on it. Headers with a heated o2, deleted EGR, most of the parts are used.
So I'm trying to get it started and its been getting closer everyday, but still no cigar yet. Base timing set -6, good spark, fuel pressure is 44ish with the engine off and the needle shakes around 42 when its trying to run. I can get it to run with the throttle partially open, but its shaking pretty bad and blowing lots of black smoke. TPS is set to .54 volts, but it won't run with the throttle closed. CTS ohms out okay. It seems to run about the same or maybe worse with the maf unhooked, but its still a suspicious part. Getting 13volts at all the injectors, but haven't confirmed the ecm ground although I think its okay. I need to test the IAC, but I don't think its capable alone of causing this severe of a problem. Injectors also ohmed out okay, but they are used lt1 injectors. I have the prom set for 24lb/hr.
For the record this is the first starting of the engine. ECU shows only code 12 stored. Thanks is advance for any input you guys might have about what is going on here. I don't know any tpi folk locally to borrow parts from so testing things via replacement is an expensive proposition at the moment.

sounds like you need to tune for the 24#hr or you have some leaking injectors. You might want to check out southbayinjectors bosch 3 22#hr.

If you have a scanner, check and see what the ecm thinks engine temp is. The sensor might be fine, but, if the ecm isn't getting a signal, or, you have a bad wire somewhere.... it will think its -40 degrees, and DUMP fuel.....
