Re: Egr delete

If you remove the egr solenoid, yes you will get a SES TC. One option is to talk to a friend of mine. He can read your PROM, disable the TC for EGR error within the .bin, and reprogram a UV EPROM. But the egr system is important. Without it, you can fail an emissions test. Also, the egr valve keeps your engine from detonation as well as keep the upper cylinder temperatures low. Low cylinder temperatures equal less chances of ping or detonation. Just something to think about.

Why?
Lot of work ( and $$ for new gaskets and the block off kit ) to achieve little given you can't even see it under the plenum.
Disconnect the plug from the EGR solenoid to get the same effect without dismantling intake.

You will still get a code either way unless you get the EGR taken out of the tune

Yup. Vetteoz is correct. Plus to disable egr from the tune, you will need to buy a G1 adapter from Moates ($35 plus shipping), a blank EPROM, and someone to burn you a chip (prices range from $50-$100). This is why vetteoz said that it'll cost money to disable the egr.

Re: Egr delete

Well the thing is I broke the wire connector on the egr that goes to the solenoid I was wondering since it does make the engine light come on I'll just take it from the 89 intake an throw it on my ore 86 intake I'm switching my carb 355 over to tpi so it's ok on paying for gaskets an stuff still gotta pull the noisy timing gears Out an replace it with a timing chain also gotta do the rear main seal an oil pan gasket

Re: Egr delete

So you wanna get the 89 solenoid and put it in the 86? If it fits then your good to go. Though im not too sure of the compatibility.

What most don't understand is the error code is from the computer not seeing the EGR gases going into the engine ;
not from the EGR valve itself not working

Removing EGR valve completely does not make the code go away

You will get a code 32 if it is there and not working
or if it is not there at all ( obviously not working )
