Engine: LR4 4.8
Transmission: 98-02 t56 6 speed
Axle/Gears: Bw 9 bolt (3.70’s) pbr rotors
Setting timing on 350 tpi
Ok i got a quick question i dropped in the distributor pointing at 1 cyl. Dos the rotor have to to pointing 6 o clock at the back of the pleumun or is it ok to leave it the way ot is the car did start right up but kinda ran kinda rough

Did you crank the engine over to top dead center before putting the distributor in? With the engine at TDC, the rotor should point at #1 cylinder when you drop the distributor in. Did you time the car after you got it in? Timing should be six degrees advanced with with tan wire by the passenger side strut tower unplugged. It is posible to put the dist. in 180* off. The car usually doesn't start when you do this though.

I had my mechanical advance distributor in an turned that until it came up to tdc i made my marke on the harmonic balancer an then pulled out the distributor to put the tpi distributor an dropped it in the same place the mechanical one was i think the whole problem was i was trying to set timing with the brown black wire connected
