Help needed! Car whining

Hi all!

Well I recently bought an 86 IROC with a 5.7 350 HO in it. I started noticing a whine coming from the car on cold starts it sounds like its coming from the rear end but im not completely sure. Also when i drive on the highway [I guess as speed increases] the whine will come back but only when I am on the gas, when I take my foot off..no more whine..I recently had the exhaust manifold replaced by Midas and a few days after, i took it on the highway and heard the whine..Im not sure if that has anything to do with it but its definitely bugging me and I'd like to know what the issue could be and prices to fix it...

Re: Help needed! Car whining

Could be your fuel pump. The next time you hear the whining, open up your gas cap and put your ear to the filler neck. if it get's louder, it's your fuel pump. Also could be your rear dif. is it only when the car is moving or is it there even when it's stopped at a light?. you can eliminate the dif if its there even when the car isn't moving.
