Hey everyone, I've been having a problem getting my camaro (1985 TPI 305 Auto Tranny) to be even drivable this summer. Basically when I drop it into reverse or drive, it will bog down in RPM's and stall a lot of the time.

I've replaced:

spark plugs
spark plug wires
dizzy cap
ignition module
fuel injectors

I have a mild VooDoo cam in it (about .465 lift 112 lsa), 255 fuel pump, 300lb valve springs, stock heads and headers.

I have the timing set at about 10-12 degree BTDC....I've adjusted the idle screw so the car runs near 1,000-1,200 RPM when idling in park.

Vacuum seems ok for putting in a mild cam (10-14 vacuum). I've checked for leaks but I think I have everything hooked up properly.

I don't have any check engine lights anymore, I got those all to go away finally. Any ideas????? I'm very frustrated in all of the work I've done and still can't drive it!!

 

Only thing I can think of is the throttle position sensor. Same thing happened to mine, replaced the TPS and bingo. Granted, that was when she was stock so I don't know
How applicable it is to you. Cost about $80 and ten minutes of my time.

 

Did your check engine light come on for the TPS? I think the TPS is literally the only thing I HAVENT replaced in that car haha

 

No. There was no check engine light. She would just stall out at idle like she was starved for fuel and would act like a manual car does when you don't give it enough gas on acceleration. Just shudder and weeze then stall.

 

iv replaced my moduler also ,the guy before i bought it replaced plugs an cap an wires an starter,i was thinking my distributer or tps ,but reading up on here they say check all vac lines also
