88 TPI into a non vats trans am?

Hello everybody,

Im putting an 88 tpi setup into my 83 non vats trans am. Do i need to do any bypass wiring to the computer? Im not sure if 88 was a vats year. Also is there any special wiring i have to do to incorporate the 88 wiring into my stock 83 console wiring? thanks P.s. i tried to search, but i didnt exactly know how to word my search so it would show the results pertaining to my problem.

No VATS til '89. You're safe as far as that's concerned.

Re: 88 TPI into a non vats trans am?

The biggest question as I see it is the C100 connector. Will it need to be repinned? Get a wiring diagram of both 88 V8 TPI and your original 83 C100 connectors.
I seem to remember finding wiring pinouts on here somewhere for LT or LS swaps. That is where I found out about mine.

I think you musta misunderstood navy02ws6. Every pre-89 PROM won't have VATS to start with, so it doesn't need to be deleted.
