Injectors stuck open?

So Im finishing up my 350 tpi swap and for some reason my injectors click open the second i connect them. I took apart the FPR and that checked out fine so either all of my injectors are bad (unlikely) or I have a wiring issue to deal with. My problem is I don't know how to go about diagnosing the wiring problem. I kept my stock computer but had a custom 350 chip made. I swapped my old chip back in and got te same problem so i dont think it's a chip or ECM issue. I think it's a ground problem but I dont know how to go about chasing down where the system is grounding out. Any ideas?

Re: Injectors stuck open?

The ECM controls the ground, but the ignition switch controls the positive.
Is this happening without the ignition switch on?

Thanks for the reply! And It's only when the ignition switch is on. When the key is out all the injectors close but the second the key is in the on position all the injectors open and stay open as long as they are plugged in

Does it happen to all 8 or only one bank?
First try to unplugged the ecm and see if it happens. If it does, you have a ground present, which means you may have a short. The positive should always be present when the ignition turns on as it energizes the fuse panel where the injectors get their power.

It happens to all 8. And I'll try it tonight after work with the ECM unplugged and I'll let you know. I'm also gunna try it with the key off and see what happens. And the ECM has a ground built into right? Cause mine is just sitting on the flier right now while I diagnose everything.

Re: Injectors stuck open?

Unplug the ECM and let us know. If it does not happen when the ECM is unplugged it means that the ECM is dead(at least that is what I would think). See if you can get another one to test after that.
If it still happens with the ECM unplugged there is more then likely a short in the ground wire that goes to the ECM.
The ECM gets its grounds from the engine block that route through the harness. It then uses the injector driver to ground the injector feed wire which pulses the injectors.

Re: Injectors stuck open?

Alright so with the key in the off position the injectors don't open or "click" also with the ECM unplugged they don't open either. I guess it must be the ECM but that just seems weird to me because I didn't have this problem before the swap. I'll see if I can get my hands on another ECM so I can test it.

Re: Injectors stuck open?

It was the ECM. Problem solved! And they had it in stock at pep boys for 70 bucks with my core. What luck!
