questions about a 85 iroc 305 tpi
im looking to start upgrading my car. i just dont know what i can and cant do with this car. i havent ever starting doing stuff to cars to add power so im a little lost on this subject. i have been reading and looking up some things but i just dont know what i should do. any advice would be appreciated. i am a mechanic but i dont work on cars that are putting mods on them to make them more powerful. i have my dad to help with anything i do to the car but i need a place to start besides the cat back exhaust. im buying the borla cat back for the car but besides that i dont know what else to get. headers, cat, y pipe. all of this im new to and im sorry if i ask stupid questions im just trying to learn

I would start with changing over to a 1227165 ecm(86-88 style). I did this, was a major difference. This ecm refreshes at a much better rate. You will need a couple relays and a MAF sensor to do it. Well worth it though, especially if you planning on tuning your car.

i plan on tuning it but i am trying to find out what are some good things to put on it before i do the tune... plus i gotta find some 1 that can tune it

I agree with 85whtz28 the 870 to 165 is a great upgrade to do right off. If your needing tuning or a ecm lmk.

With my car it just made it run tons smoother by switching it over. After that I would probably go for headers and y pipe with your borla exhaust, or start from the ground up. Its always a good idea to start on a good platform. Sub-frame connectors and steering brace are highly recommended. Also you need to know what direction you want to take the car, what you want to use it for. This will determine what upgrades(if any) you want to do. There is a **** load of knowledge on this site, so dont hesitate to ask, we all start somewhere.
