HELP!!! hatch motor problems. thoughts anyone?

ok i have a 1989 iroc z camaro. the hatch pull down motor was jerry rigged together just so it wld latch and hold the hatch down. literally the plastic motor housing was in pieces and the motor was torn off the rest of the latch. in other words it didnt work when i purchased the car. i junked what was left of the old one and started looking in salvage yards for a (new) one. i found two in nice shape but only one worked. i bought that one and it is complete, but when i bolted into my car and reconnected the wires it doesnt work. im not sure if there is a break in the wire, a blown fuse or if one of the relays (either in the console or below the hatch motor in the trunk) is bad. any answers would b helpfull

Re: HELP!!! hatch motor problems. thoughts anyone?

My 89 iroc did that years ago and I got it to stay in the closed position and left it that way. I remember a switch being in the slot where metal bar would strike it and that activated it to go up and down. I took it out and there were these plastic strips and blue grease and broken parts. I bought another motor and fixed it all and left it in the closed position. Poorly designed in my opinion. Should have had a metal housing and internals IMHO.
