Re: want to block off egr, any advice

There are pros and cons. The egr lowered the combustion temperature and during highway speeds it leans out the fuel mixture and timing will advance increasing fuel milage. The bad the code 32, but it also seems like a engine without a egr the plenum stays cleaner.

Tuned Performance I figured you would tell the OP that if they did this that it would be wise to have the chip reprogrammed so the engine will run better and the code would not show up.

If you don't get EGR deleted on the chip, the ECM has no way of knowing it has been deleted so it will continue to command EGR operation as programmed
and will advance the spark at the same time as when it "thinks " the EGR has been operated
Excess spark advance in non EGR conditions can cause problems

The error code only shows that the ECM has not "seen" the EGR operating when it told it to ; it won't stop the ECM from trying to operate it

Thank you Andrew, far making it for me. There is more than just the code 32 like vetteoz says function needs to disabled as well.

Not too mention, you can not pass Federal emissions standards without an EGR valve in place.

Re: want to block off egr, any advice

I am thinking that I might just keep it. but I am getting my prom reprogrammed so i would have got it disabled.

is there any performance gain in getting rid of it?

No performance gains deleting the egr.

No problem Brian. If you need any modifications to your flyer, let me know. I still have the master copy in layers.

Re: want to block off egr, any advice

So my AIR pump went bad and I removed it. Do I have to remove anything or block off anything like the pipe attached to the pump? I just want to get it running for the time being. I will strip everything off later.

TIA
Geoff

Re: want to block off egr, any advice

It's not emissions legal to remove it.

But you'll need to block off the injection tubes on the manifolds and the cat. Should also have a chip burned to eliminate the AIR enabled 100mv O2 sensor output offset.

Re: want to block off egr, any advice

Old post I know.

Going to block off the EGR valve opening in middle of TPI intake ?

Where did other egr tube blockoff go ? Guess our TPI cars dont have

this egr tube ? Was that only on Corvettes ?

Re: want to block off egr, any advice

Egr external feed is on corvette only. Tpi f body gets the feed from a internal passage in the passengers side head.

Re: want to block off egr, any advice

So our 3rd gens do not have the port but Corvettes manifolds do so Im assuming an Edelbrock TPI intake will have this port to work with either car ? If so another small reason for me to stay with the stock manifold and port it...stealth too.

Re: want to block off egr, any advice

The corvette manifold and edelbrock Accel ect has duel feeds for egr. One in the rear and one in between the intake ports on the passengers side head. Either feed will work they connect to each other.

You can see the passages on this image here.
Not a bad deal for a edelbrock base too
