Collecting parts...

I'm looking forward to doing a tpi 350 conversion. This is what I have for my conversion so far. Vortec heads are casting no.062. Thought I'd show everyone a look of what I have so far. I just got the TPI (speed density) setup today. Unfortunately the invoice says I'm gonna have to replace the throttle body, and unfortunately I didn't get the brand new wiring harness that I wanted, so I gotta try again later on. Still need a lot more parts, slowly but surely. Thanks again to DiabloWS6 for the comp cam!

Re: Collecting parts...

Why do you need to replace the TB?

Be on the lookout for the Vortec base, they are pricey, and I have seen a couple used.

Re: Collecting parts...

The invoice that came with the TPI setup said it needed to be replaced. Why I have no idea. The only thing I found wrong was a bolt that had broken off on the side of it where I would have to drill out a new hole (maybe ruining it?) I've been trying to get a vortec base by placing an ad on the wanted boards, but so far no biters.

Re: Collecting parts...

Used vortec bases are very rare. If someone has one, they will post it and it will probably go fast. I saw one for $200 about 2 months ago.

For the throttlebody Yes, you can drill and tap it I'm sure.

Re: Collecting parts...

If the throttle shaft is tight its worth trying to extract the bolt. I think you are referring to the tps bolt. It is a odd size 4.5mm you will need to get some used ones. The good side is is very soft to dril I believe its aluminum.

Re: Collecting parts...

I picked up my base on the classifieds here and it was new in the box, never had been installed.

Saw one on craigslist here in Dallas, but he wants to sell the whole TPI it is attached to as well.
