Odd miss

When I make a corner my trans am will miss badly usually when i make a left hand turn around a round about or a right turn into my neighborhood it will miss and stumble hard until I pull out of the turn and go straight. Its gotten progressively worse over the last month to where it has killed on me while making a turn.

It happens if my take is full or almost empty, although it is somewhat worse when empty, my dad thinks that it could be the fuel filter i'm not sure if it is. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be?

Re: Odd miss

happens on my 87 bird 305 tpi. Usually when fuel gauge is reading low. My fuel guage is a lil off to i have to have at least a 1/4 tank on gauge in order to make swift turns without missing or stalling. hope this helps

Re: Odd miss

I just tested the injectors, and they were 16.2 cold and 17.2 hot, the fuel pressure on a cold start was around 52psi, i also replaced the fuel filter and the car seems to be running better but it still has a consistent miss when taking a corner somewhat hard

Re: Odd miss

it sound like maybe you need a new fuel pump. could not be sucking up enough fuel, not as much as it needs anyways or fuel pump relay

Re: Odd miss

I had thought about that as well but it smells likes it running rich, what sensors could be affecting that?

Re: Odd miss

sound to me like a bad connection while taking turns killing the pump. If your pump stays on after you take the key out you need relay

Re: Odd miss

Im starting to think it could be fuel pump related, is there any sensors though that could make it have a hard time starting rough idle, almost kill when I give it gas or have flat spots with no power when I accelerate?

Re: Odd miss

the MAF or speed density sensor, the air intake temp sensor maybe those 3 affect a lot cant really thing of any others but the relay thing wouldn’t b a bad idea either. you can check them by swapping the fuel relay to the fan relay right next to it an vise versa to where both are plugged in on different relays, if no occurring changes happen the i guess that’s not your problem, or both relays are shot.

Re: Odd miss

You need a fuel pressure gauge to diagnose this. Get one that screws onto the fuel rail and tape it to your windshield.

Re: Odd miss

When I first got my car it ran rich and would miss. Firing order was wrong and I had a detache vacume line that connected to throttle body.
