Engine rebuild help!

I'm sorry if this is something people have already answered and are tired of, but.....I had a rebuilt engine, until that bitch sandy ruined it with flood water, we thought we were able to salvage it with diesel fuel, but that didnt work. According to my father (who tore it apart without my knowledge) the pistons were corroded in place and needed mechanical persuasion (aka hammer and wood) to get out. After they were removed, he told me the inside of the engine wasnt corroded, only at the pistons but it may need to be bored out due to the pitting it slightly suffered. The heads will need new valves and rockers at the least.

Now basically what i'm asking for on here is for you guys to spend money that isnt yours, in theory, to build this engine (probably gonna bring it to a place near my have them make it a 355) on a bit of a budget. We're trying to keep it around what i'm getting back from insurance from all the stuff ruined of mine.

Right now, my father is the one helping me, i dont know a whole lot on engines and this will be my learning experience....so basically from a long block i need help/suggestions on rebuilding this motor to a 355. I thnk 383 is out of the question as i dont have that much money to do that. the only item i have picked out is a new crane cam for it lol.

Any help is greatly appreciate, thanks guys!
