Finished with my build

So, over the past 4 months, we have basically rebuilt the driveline on my 87 IROC. Had a stock l98/700-r4. Now its got new heads/cam/intake, rebuilt the tranny with a 2200 stall converter - 3" exhaust, etc. We didn't modify the computer. With the mods, at 6000ft altitude, on regular gas, the car made about 200hp and 270 ft lbs torque AT THE REAR WHEELS. Now the car is a MAF, so the computer lived, but i could tell there was some more power to be had. So - Tuned Performance did a chip for her. I just did the after dyno run today. Not only does the car FEEL much faster, but they dyno run showed 20HP and nearly 40 ft lbs of torque improvement. AT the rear wheels (and at 6000ft altitude) the car is making nearly what it did at the flywheel with the original stock engine! She's seeing about 220hp and 320tq at the rear wheels. AND i'm getting 22mpg on the highway! Amazing what can be done with these cars and still keep them driveable.

Congrats! Just wait until the engine breaks in and you will get even better mileage. Not sure what rear end gearing you have, but I'm making more power than you and can get 29hwy (flat like I-5) with lean mode enabled when my cruise is set.

Re: Finished with my build

WHat kind of cam/heads just mild work like 113 and 268XE?

At 6000ft your alt lost for me in FL would be like 40HP so you would see 260HP hear or 320HP at the crank

Did you do an fuel pressure/injector changes? What are your AFR VS RPM you might even have more power in their like another 25-40hp with few more tweaks.

Re: Finished with my build

IIRC, edelbrock base stock tpi, zz4 heads, cam so yeh 113s, 9.5 comp 3 bar fp 30#hr injectors stock exhaust manifold , 2200 stall . If was leaning out some from 2300- 2500 at around 13-13.5.
I just sent her a few calibrations to try adding 1.5-3% more fuel and added ae.
