19lb injectors on 355 with stealth ram

Hello all,
I have searched the forum a few times and haven't come up with any clear answers to my questions, so here it goes.
I have an 88 Iroc with a 350 bored .030 over. As per the build specs that the previous owner gave me, it has Brodix aluminum heads with 70cc chambers, (not sure the intake runner size). It has a 260H comp cam (.440 intake and exhaust, 212 duration @.050) It has what appears to be stock tpi runners and plenum, and also the Tpis big-mouth base. I have since installed heddman headers (1 5/8" shorties), y-pipe, cat delete, and 3" hooker "cat"-back, and a 52mm throttle body. A fellow member also hooked me up with a chip that he programmed, which worked out very nicely.

In my quest for more power I have been looking for a used stealth ram setup. So I have been reading what all needs to be done, and have come across some threads that state that some stock type injectors may be too tall for the stealth ram fuel rail. I go outside, pop my hood and the tiny numbers on the injectors read "5235047". Which turns out are 19lb injectors. This prompted my to jack my car up and look for block casting numbers to confirm that it is indeed a 350 and not a 305. The only numbers I can seem to find on the block are "638", so it is a 350 according to most sites that I have searched.
So my question here is will these injectors do fine when I do install my stealth ram or should I just get some 22 or 24lb, that will supply the fuel I need and also be the correct height?

Thank you in advance!

Wow, bet that engine runs real lean and hot, Chuck those in the garbage, contact southbay for some bosh 3s 22-24 will work fine you can even use 30s but who know what has been done if anything to the ecm calibration it could be running a memcal from a lb9. You will want to read up on the DIY prom section or payout to have it done live or off data logs.

Re: 19lb injectors on 355 with stealth ram

If I remember correctly, it does have a 350 memcal. Its the 7165 ecm and a thirdgen member sent me a chip with the 350 constants burned on to it. I do have to learn more about datalogging and burning. I was used to working on a carbed truck for years, so this is a new area for me. The plugs seem fine and the car doesn't ping. It runs very well up to about 4400 rpm, then falls on its face. Could it be the small injectors or the tpi which is limiting it?

Tpi craps out at 4500, changing to 22 Injectors and doing datalogs now before a intake now would get your feet wet tuning and changing your maf tables.

Re: 19lb injectors on 355 with stealth ram

So I am going to order some new injectors here in a couple of days. Should I just go ahead and get 24lb? Would the tune that I have right now be able to adjust correctly to the larger injectors. It has the constants burned into the chip for a 350, which assumes 22lb injectors correct? I just don't want to change injectors and it completely screw up the way the car runs now.

Thanks

I have no idea what your calibration is, If its done correctly the constant value is 22 then any other changes could be made to the maf tables from there.

Re: 19lb injectors on 355 with stealth ram

Will these injectors work with my current setup as well as when I make the switch to stealth ram in a few months? Will they be the correct height to fit the stealth ram fuel rail?

Re: 19lb injectors on 355 with stealth ram

Yeah I don't either. But the person who burned the chip for me is a trusted and knowledgeable one on this site. I gave him the specs of my engine, he sent me a chip and I installed it. Car runs great, but I'm thinking I might be leaving power on the table, especially after using that injector calculator. haha. I am very new to the tuning world, so I can't pretend to know how its done. I do have experience with engines. Just not computer controlled ones.
Thanks

Re: 19lb injectors on 355 with stealth ram

The ad states (They will fit the LT1, TPI engines, and many of the 5.0 mustangs along with many others.)
As far as the hsr rails go I believe any tpi height injector will work, There was a fitment issue with the bosch 3's and retrofitting procomps fuel rails.

Re: 19lb injectors on 355 with stealth ram

Thank you. So do you think if I installed these injectors (the ones posted by Tibo) on my car it would be overkill for my current setup?

I think the 25s will work fine, here is a set of 22s

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-p...injectors.html

The tpi maf will correct its tune some what, If your tune has a spark table more aggressive say from a corvette (ARAP) You will pick up better throttle response and power.

Im not sure who you used but if you need assistance send me a pm, The 1227165 ecm can be a bear to connect to is its only downfall but its amazing what you can do with a narrowband o2 once your learn to read your data logs

Re: 19lb injectors on 355 with stealth ram

Update: Installed some 22# bosch 3's. They came with the extra O-ring spacer for the tpi fuel rail. I don't have all the stealth ram components yet, so I installed them on my tpi setup. There was some slight hesitation off idle for the first couple of minutes of driving but it seems the ecm may have adjusted because it is gone now. The throttle response is slightly better than the old injectors and it pulls much stronger in 2nd gear for some reason. 1st gear seems to rap out real fast so its kind of hard to tell the difference there. Idle is higher than before, so I will have to adjust IAC tomorrow. Thanks everyone for your feedback!
