no start issue..

car is an 85 iroc..ok,car was running fine, now no go..it will pop over like its going to start or will idle rough for a few seconds and die but thats it..after turning the key off the fuel pump will continue to run for a few seconds..
I pulled the throttle body off and cleaned it and the IAC..the coolant passages on the bottom were completely blocked with some gel looking crap..no clue what that was..cleaned everything out and same deal..also checked tps voltage which is fine..possible that cts is gummed up with the same crud that was in the tb and causing this? Not sure where to start on this..codes it is giving me are 32 and 42..egr and esc module..

Re: no start issue..

ok,still at a loss here..cleared the codes but no help, checked the esc wiring and no problems found..I have a pressure gauge hooked to the rail and she holds a steady 40-43 psi..crank it and she pops over and stumbles for a few seconds and stalls..then when I turn the key off the fuel pump will continue to run for about 20 seconds and shut off..what is going on here? she isnt out of gas..the injectors have to be pulsing if she is kicking over even for just a few seconds right?

Re: no start issue..

You could try putting a noid light on all the injectors and see if they are all firing. Or check the resistance on all of them with an ohm meter and see what numbers you get to try and rule them out. Were any changes made to the car right before it did this?

Re: no start issue..

no,no changes really...other than the fuel pump power feed wire was spliced into and plugged into the fusebox..would run all the time when key was on..i fixed that and it was running fine..possibly a sticking fuel pump relay or oil pressure switch? the switch looks brand new..idk..think I have an extra relay in the shop to check it against the old one..

Re: no start issue..

Yeah, you can try the other relay if you already have it. I don't think it would hurt to look into checking out you injectors.

Re: no start issue..

A noid light is just a little diagnostic tool that you plug into the injector's wiring connector. It will flash when you crank the engine if that injector is pulsing. Its worth a shot to see if they are all firing. Plus checking the resistance on them with a volt meter, and comparing the numbers on all of them to each other could show an injector being bad.

Re: no start issue..

so,checked the injectors with ohm meter and they check out ok(19-20 ohms) none under 10-15.....then did some reading on chevy thunder for checking the injectors harness..the instructions say hook a test light to positive? Well,I hooked one to ground and with the key on the test light comes on and stays steady on both wires of each injector plug..
so now I'm thinking either the ignition module or the ecm itself is at fault..this sound accurate to you guys?
this is a link to the chevy thunder tests I did..http://www.chevythunder.com/fuel%20i...20page%20C.htm

Re: no start issue..

ok,just tried something else..I did swap the fuel pump relay today with another spare I had in the shop and there was no change..I just plugged everything back in..injectors,ecm,icm...and removed the fp relay completely.. when key is turned on,no fuel pump prime..when i start cranking the pump comes on..and when i stop cranking and turn the key off again the pump continues to run for 20 seconds before turning off..

Nevermind..just got it going!! Yahoo!!! Tps replaced even though testing said it was good..and one injector was not plugged in correctly..harness plug was just sitting on top of number 8 injector..she cranks up without skipping a beat now! I have had the distributor either out or half apart at least 7 times in the last week..checking ICM and re checking that it was at tdc..
