My Vortech 059 Head build

Recently I acquired a 305 vortec marine engine, the engine had the 059 vortec heads.

I also used the "395" marine cam during the build. While I was at it I threw some headers on it, with a new exhaust.

I used a chip from harris performance, to delete the EGR.

I have only driven it about 5 miles since completing all the work, but from the seat of the pants it feels like I woke my 305 up quite a little bit.

Here are some pics of my vortec head build.

So far I have nothing bad to say about brain Harris. In fact I lost the instructions for it in all my piles of parts. He promptly emailed me, and walked me thru. Car fired right up, so we'll see, can't drive it much here in Michigan yet.

Re: My Vortech 059 Head build

I am most pleased with this upgrade, after I got the timing dialed in, the little 305 does have a lot more in it.

My short test drive today was way more entertaining than it used to be.

I can't wait to see what she'll do at the drag strip. I sure hope it will be low 15s, we'll see.
