got wierd idle surge
motor was completely warmed up. in park it keeps revving up to 1100 rpm then back to 850 rpm. just keeps doing that. except for the other day when it went to 1100 and stayed there til I turnt it off and restarted it then it stayed at 850 in park.then 650 in gear.

Re: got wierd idle surge
Surging idles are typically caused by vacuum leaks. There are a lot of places for a TPI manifold to leak. I'd start looking for a busted line or bad gasket.

Sure. If the valve sticks open or the solenoid is not releasing the vacuum to the egr, it'll act like a vacuum leak. I wouldn't rule out a vacuum leak if you just had it apart, too easy to miss something on these. That includes the egr that you're questioning.
