I am new to 3rd gen and coming here as a sort of a last resort to save this TPI that I had installed in my 53 Chevy Truck.
Little background on the motor. I bought this Engine brand new in 1987 in my IROC-Z
1987 IROC Before
1987 IROC 6 months later After my Dad totaled it
The Motor sat for 28 year until last year when I decide to put it into a 1953 chevy 5 window that I was having built.
We installed the motor and used a wiring harness and 92 ECM from Larry's Electric Site. Had several issues with it being plugged by Wasp Nest, mouse droppings ect, but it is running but it is just a "DOG" No torque at all. I am not a mechanic, and my builder is an LS1 guy and has had hell trying to get this thing to this point. We are getting a code 52 and 53 when we pull the codes. We have good fuel pressure, I am going to send the ECM back to have them check it.
My question is does someone know a good shop that could tune and burn a chip if needed. The motor has some sentimental value but I am not happy with this thing and about ready to punt it.
code 52 = http://chevythunder.com/codes_5152_55.htm calpak error Not good, read the stuff about checking resistance of sensors and actuators. Could have been damaged in the wreck if wire harness was crushed or shorted.

Look at the top of the memcal the white board . The second digit should be a r or p.
If it's not Larry's electric has sold you a v6 memcal. If it has a o or j ect it can be made to work but the injector fire rate and firmware is not set correctly. You can fix this by soldering in a jumper on the memcal. The est will not work correctly and needs to be disabled with programming .

Ok so is the 1J262 number what you are talking about?
That's from a v6, Larry's electric and fuel injection connection have been selling these.
In order to get it to run right a jumper needs to be installed on the 3rd from the bottom to the 6th from the bottom. This still doesn't fix the timing retard issue.
The fix would be for me to reprogram it or if you want a functional knock sensor I have the 90-92 aujp memcals.
Thanks for your help Brian, looking forward to getting the correct Memcal from you.
Need to start spreading the word about the crap that Larry's is selling!

Just want to post a big thank you to Brian at Tuned Performance, he was able to diagnose and fix the problem. His MEMCAL he sent works perfect and this TPI is running great. Just need to get him tuned a little bit and I think it will be perfect. Thank you Brian!!
after you set the tps and get the knock sensor installed I can walk you through the data logging steps or if you know of someone with a obd1 scanner I need closed loop blm/rpm and map kpa numbers and I can retune as needed
