Sensors on the front of the intake manifold

Hi guys,

I am re-installing the TPI onto my car cuz the guy I bought it from put a carb on it. Anyway, there are two plug in sensors on the front of the intake manifold. One must be the coolant temperature sender, what is the other one?

Anyone know where I can find an exploded view of all the components?

Thanks!

One is the cold start injector switch. the other is coolant temp. http://chevythunder.com/fuel%20injec....%20pg%20B.htm

Re: Sensors on the front of the intake manifold

Thanks! I can only find one plug that fits those fittings. According to the color codes on the wires I have the coolant temp plug but I can't find the other. I don't think the guy I bought the car from cut or removed any of the plugs. I figured it would be in the same mass if wires and plugs on the passenger side.????

OK, I've got it and according to the color of the wires in the wiring diagram I found the wires that plug into it. Only problem is the connector does not match. The wires which match the colors in the wiring diagrams, and are in the perfect location for the cold start injection switch, have what appears to be a fuel injector type connector, not a match for the switch?? The connector looks stock and original. Could it have the wrong sender/switch installed on the manifold????

Those are your connections? I think you have it right, are you sure they don't connect?

Someone has installed the wrong switch. It has two temp sender switches. Great....Of course that part has been discontinued...The search goes on...

Thanks!

Sorry for high jacking this post, but I am in the process of rewiring my '85 TPI after a long delay of 15 years. My Cold Start Switch and Coolant Temp Sensor are located as in the picture above, but in the wiring diagram it shows them as reversed in location. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures before disassembly, and now all these years later I want to make sure I have it right. Even Chevythunder.com has them the opposite of mine and the above picture.

Can anyone enlighten me?

Mike

I just saw one on eBay that has the sensors as pictured above....I don't have a factory manual to see what it shows, so will wait for guidance!!!!

I don't believe it makes any difference as they are both going into the same coolant feed. The wires being able to reach would be my only concern. I'm willing to bet the factory might not have put them in the same places

The pic is how they're supposed to be, but yeah it really doesn't make a bit of difference.
