My car has recently had a hard time starting, it would happen on a cold start but more often on a hot start. I replaced the diaphram and installed a TPIS AFPR and set it at 47psi. I've checked the CTS and I have 5.0 volts at the connecter with the ignition on and the sensor reads 3500 ohms of resistance at around 70F.
I just installed a MSD 8406 Distributor Cap and Rotor Kit, since then the car still has the hard start problem and now idles horrible and will also sometimes stall at a stop. If I'm moving the car show no signs of any problems.
I've uploaded a video of the idle at the link below, Any help would be greatly appreciated.
If it started after you installed the cap and rotor, go back there. Are you sure every ign wire is connected tight? Did you bump or break any vacuum lines? Was the dist bolt loose and the dist moved causing the timing to be off? What happens if you put the old stuff back on? I've had bad luck with MSD stuff so I wouldn't be surprised it it has a problem.
Turns out that the distributor was very rusty, so much so that when I replaced the rotor part of the pickup coil fell apart. I replaced the distributor with a remanufactured ACDelco 19179575. Now everything is back to normal.
Thanks,
-Brandon
