MAF to MAP (EBL flash).Remove MAF.
To take benefit of the no longer need of the MAF sensor I would like to remove the MAF, to eliminate the flow restriction.
What alternatives do I have?
I noticed that the 1990-1992 Speed density cars do have a longer air intake rubber boot that attaches directly to the throttle body. I have not been able to source that boot new. Does anyone know the P/N? I bet it is discontinued… I found an used boot at the JY that they wants 120 bucks for, shipped to my door.
Gutt the existing MAF, In my case it’s a fully functional ungutted MAF, so It does not feel like the best idea. One could of coarse buy an used faulty/ cheap MAF and gutt that one.
Fab a piece that replaces the MAF. Have not looked into this in detail but there is a O-ring / Clamp interface on the MAF so it probably requires more than a straight duct section.
I’m for sure not the only one wanting to do this, so which route did you take?

I wouldn't gut the MAF if it works. I'd sell it or hang on to it if I changed back to MAF. My route would be to buy a tube that's the same size as the MAF and leave everything else in place. Also, depending on what's been done to your engine, the MAF isn't a likely restriction for most street cars.

I agree, To gut the MAF It is not the route I will choose. I will hang on to it for future use.
At the moment I'm leaning towards buying the inlet rubber boot. I like a clean look in the engine bay, and dont want to have stuff there that has no function.
Regarding the restriction, I was thinking as it is quite common that people modify the MAF for better flow, there must be a reason to it. My next project is to throw on a pair of AFR 195, cam and headers. Getting rid of the MAF will probably help the flow a little bit. The inlet will for sure be the limiting factor in the new engine combo.
