i purcahsed a 88 5.7 iroc no start spray carb cleaner starts for a few seconds no fuel to fuel rail.so replaced fuel pump and strainer and fuel filter now got fuel at rail still no start any advice would appreciate.

Are the injectors being told to fire? In other words, did you check for power and ground pulse to the injectors?

 

Got power to all injectors one is shorted will one bad injector still cause it not start?

 

When cranking don't hear any of the ticking ? Fuel was 2 years old and tank all clean with new fuel

 

Yes it will cause a no start. The shorted injector will not allow the ECM to pulse the injectors. Unplug the shorted injector and see what happens. You should probably get new injectors as the originals are probably all dirty anyway. Check the classifieds here at TGO or get a set of refurbished injectors from SouthBay, I read nothing but great praise of SouthBay from members who have dealt with them. GL!

When you key on with the engine off does the check engine light come on?

 

Yes it does

 

Probably got bad injectors. Same thing happened to me. Fuel sat for awhile. Replaced everything fuel related except for the injectors and couldn't get it to start. They ohmed out properly as well. But were clogged up. They were the stock multecs. Put in some Bosch 3s and fired right up.

 

wanted to update you guys,well good news got it started,set the timing tp specs.all new injectors and fuel pressure reg and fuel pump,sending unit,fule filter,fired right up.and actually the 5spd works well converted from an auto since its a 5.7 car.now dont know if im gonna keep her and get repainted or sell the car.

why would you sell it now that its up and running and you can enjoy it.

 

your right will drive the car for a few weeks and see what I think. Paint looks like gonna be 5/6 k with new decalls and weatherstripping.
