Dropping gas tank
I am removing my gas tank from my 1987 5.7 IROC. It is not running and I need to remove the gas from the tank. Anybody have any idea how I can do this. Thanks

Re: Dropping gas tank
i used compressed air . i first removed the fuel filter then made a "fitting " and blew 20 LBS air through the filler neck. worked like a charm . now you dont have to remove the tank to drain it. but if you have pump problems .. then you do

Car doesn't run, but if pump runs use it to drain tank. Just undo fitting at filter and jump relay to pump out tank.

eseibel67 and rusty vango,
Thanks for the information. I will try this. Removing the tank to replace the fuel pump. Anything else I need to look out for while I am doing this job?

Yes, remove the bolt that holds the brass "T" fitting down for the rear steel brake line that's on top of the rear end. You will have to get the complete rear end WAY DOWN in order to remove the tank.
