Ok, my throttle has "clicks" to it and they are froma worn out TB according to a guy who knew what he was talking about....anyway....could I drill out and have some bushing put in or would it be better to to just but a 52mm TB.

 

I just read earlier today someone replied to a post about this. They gave a guys name and phone number. This person takes your 48mm tb and removes the shaft, installs sealed bearings for the throttle shaft and then (I think) installs the bigger 52 mm throttle plates. I believe it was about $190 - $200 for this.

well I don't need 52mm it is just what is available...now is the a ball bearing, what does he mean by sealed? I will look for this post.

I have ran across a fellow in Elgin,IL that takes and machines throttle shafts "since most have wear and are loose at 80k or so" and installs sealed roller bearings at each end"doubt they will ever wear out" then fabricates the larger throttle blades and contours the TB to match.The price is $190.00 which in my opinion is a deal considering you get a repair and a flow upgrade.He is a tool and die maker and has told me some of the others that do this type of work idle at 1000rpm afterwords because of lack of precision.Mine has worked great!
