I'm not a guru but I'll chime in anyway....

With the Vortec bolt pattern you have three off-the-shelf options:

1.) Scoggin-****ey's TPI base, which will allow you to run a stock-looking TPI setup. This is the only TPI-compatible base that fits the Vortec pattern at this time.

**NOTE the way the new UBB auto-censoring software asterisked-out D1CK in Scoggin's name above...too funny!!!

2.) GM's "RamJet" intake. This uses an LS1 throttle body, is one piece rather than separate plenum/runners/base, and can be bought with a standalone ECM and harness. It could probably be made to work with a TPI ECM ('165, '730) without too much hacking.

3.) TPIS "Miniram III" intake. This uses a TPI throttle body, is also one piece, and is designed to work with stock TPI wiring harness.

You can run a stock ECM or aftermarket controller with TPI, Accel DFI and Haltech are common options. A new player formerly known as Speed-Pro is also out there...check out www.fuelairspark.com for info.

With aftermarket ECMs you gain realtime programmability but lose variable breadth compared to GM units in my experience. They also cost a bunch more.
