1985 maf burn off relay not there could this be issue
i did a previous post before and i may have found a issue. i bought a 85 trans am tpi car and pulled everything out and put it in a 55 chevy truck. when the engine is cold it will not rev up at all when it is warmed up it kinda revs up but spits and sputters baddly. if you give it wot it will but it feels and sounds like a missfire. i can also here slight backfire in the intake so im assuming it is running lean
anyway i took it to a shop but they obviously didnt know what they were doing and couldnt figure anything out
so im going over the ecu wires again and noticed the maf burn off relay that is attached to the ecu was not there. i have found a few on ebay and will be ordering one but my question is on the 85 trans am since it is not hooked up could that be causing the problems?

Short answer is most likely no. The burn off relay just heats up the wire inside the MAF for a couple seconds after you turn the car off to help clean any contaminates off the wire. But, if it's missing I would wonder what else maybe missing from the wiring harness.
What codes are you getting? Did you do anything to the injectors when you swapped the motor? Did it sit for a while before you tried to start it? If so there's a good chance the injectors are gummed up. If you don't have a code reader I would see about getting one. They are really not that expensive. I bought a snap on scan tool off ebay for around $200 and it will tell me a lot of info as to what is going on with the motor. It has came in very handy for our swap into a 56 Hardtop.

the only code the car was reading was tps to high, but it was showing the .54 volts so that i cant understand, its not a injector issue because i bought a brand new set and it did the same thing, then went and put a nother set on there that i had in shop and still same thing, so i truely do not think 3 sets of injectors are bad, plus they were ohmd and leak tested. someone told me to put more grounds on the truck and i will do that tomorrow but i dont think that is the issue either.

If the MAF burnoff relay is bad the problem should be merely having to manually spray clean the MAF often.
