What are some good scan tools that can be used for solving problems / doing tune ups on tpi engines. What is everyone using.

I have DataMaster, its frame capture speed is plenty fast, and has more information than I know what to do with. Records, plays back, graphs, etc.... You can get a free download version that allows you to record up to I think 12 or so times before you have to purchase it, that is if you have the cable hooks ups that connect the ALDL plug to your laptop Serial port.
Here's a link to AKM thats sells several scan tools, DM is the first on the list, and its fairly cheap compared to others as far as price.

For a handheld I use the new Auto Xray - replaces the 240 model. Cost about $150 but worth it.

I forgot to mention, DataMaster requires the use of a laptop computer, its not a self contained device as the one mentioned above. Not sure which you are looking for.

Looking for a handheld unit. Where can I get the auto x-ray, or at least some info on it.

i have 2 OTC scanners. these are the ones that you can do diagnostics, pull codes, and read datastreams. they now have software that you can use it with your PC also. the one i am trying to get rid of is the OTC 4000e. it works from '79-'97 all domestic. it will do engine, abs, and airbag. my add is at www.fl-thirdgen.org in the parts for sale section. asking $700.00. it is a handheld unit.

I have a refurbed AutoXray I got for $89. Handheld unit and does a good job for the price. Here's the link.
