88 Sport Coupe TPI Idle problems
Hey everyone; I have 1988 Sport Coupe with a rebuilt 305 Tuned Port Injection sysem on it (no, it's not the original engine), and it seems to have a very, very rough idle. It like shakes all over. My friend has a 1989 RS 305 Throttle Body and his idles nice and smooth. Occasionally, my SERVICE ENGINE SOON light comes on, and I have no idea what to do. It idles at between 10-1500 RPMs, and has a FLOWMASTER exhaust system on it. My dad is a mechanic and seems to think a seal around the MAF sensor needs adjusting, or the whole MAF sensor needs replacement. The TPI uses the original injectors, which have like 150,000 miles on them. Could it be the MAF, the Flowmaster, or the injectors? Or is it something else?

try setting the idle first off, and I had the same problem wif my 350 tpi, it was the IAC motor. I'm not saying that is what yours isfor sure but check it out. also adjust the TPS voltage. all the directions on how to do it are in the tech articles.
