Superram on a 305
So I really want to get a accel super ram for my iroc. Issue is its a stock 305. I know the superram is overkill. But I have future plans for a better motor.
My thought is use the superram with the stock throttle body to resrict the amont the intake can flow.
Does this sound reasonable?
The car is a toy maybe 1000 miles year so as long as it runs reasonable im happy.
Or wouldit be better to upgrade the injectorsand run a 1000 cfm throttle body?

Without supporting mods (bigger cam and head work), yes the super ram is overkill but will work. Again, without supporting mods, the 1000 CFM throttle body won't get you anything as won't the injectors. Being a MAF engine, you will be ok with just the manifold upgrade (allow for higher rpm) and not need to "tune" the ECM for such. Once you start changing cam and heads, you will need to "tune" it. At that point, you will probably want to switch to SD and ditch the MAF. It really sounds like you just want to change the manifold and that's ok. The other mods are probably better left until you do your engine upgrade. That way you can match the entire package versus a piece here and a piece there. More time to save money for the project. Re: Superram on a 305
@Cougar - injection does behave a little different than a carb, but many of the changes can be compared. In this case, TPI-to-superram is similar to changing a stock, mild-performance engine from a dual-plane intake to single-plane. With the stock, mild, low-rpm cam and "low" flow heads you will give up responsiveness at low RPM, and the intake starts working better at high RPM... just as the heads and cam reach their limits.
Yes, this will work. But you will be taking a step backwards until the cam and heads are upgrade to match the intake potential.
BTW, the stock TB isn't a restriction yet. With better heads and a higher RPM cam, maybe.
Since the superram is no longer being produced, you will have to wait for a used on to come up for sale... Such as this one.

Put it on a shelf until you get the other parts to build your engine with "matched" components.
My $.02.

Re: Superram on a 305
Burnout88's question was just as much to determine what engine you have now... The lower performance "peanut cam" or the higher performance cam that came with the 3.42 option.

Re: Superram on a 305
Since you have a peanut cam car. Put the gears in first. That will make a huge difference. I have an 88 peanut cam car also and a superram intake sitting in my gargage. Even with the gears and everything else I did to the car I never put it on because I just don't think the cam can carry the motor into the rpm range of the superram.
If you had a 5-speed car with the better cam I would say go for it.
