Homemade Cold Air Intake Questions...

Hello Esteemed Third GENers,

I am currently looking into the possiblities of a homemade CAI, I have MAF and am not willing to relocate plus I think the MAF to TB stock hose is pretty cool. So everything forward of the MAF is under review but I do not want an external RAM. My main question is that everyone removes the canister, given, but I am confused after that. Do most folks just stick the filter on the piping and call it good? Where the heck does the cold air come from exactly, the fan? Also what can I use as a transition on both ends of the piping that will look decent? Thanks all!!

There's a lot of good information there, it seems like the fender opening is pointless but I like my foglights too much for the ram. Has anyone tried to cut a hole into the plate below the stock can for more air flow??

Cold Air

I ran my home made cold air to the driver side on my Camaro. I drilled a large diameter hole through the unused battery tray and mounted the K&N filter under the battery tray. This got it out of the hot engine bay and into the cooler air of the inner fenderwell.
I then fabricated a scoop that bolted to the leading edge of the fenderwell plastic liner. This scooped air into the fendwell.
