Gasket matching Price and ?

I bought TF heads and I have an edelbrock base and TF recommended Felpro 1205 gaskets. Well the gaskets fit the heads good but when i put the gasket to the intake the ports are SO small. I'll need to al least shave an 1/8 all the way around. it looks to hard to just blend in so should I just take my intake to a shop to get gasket matched? If so how much is it to get done?

depends on the shop any ware from 50 to 100 you can do it your self with a dremal just take your time. take a sharpy trace the ports on the gaskets and start taking it off just do it slow and dont try to port it threw the hole intake port just blend it in so tair is a nice even transition from intake to heads.

same problem

I have the same heads and same manifold. I port matche the heads which was no problem. BUt the intake I was too afraid to take out that much material so I just port matched it to the to of the port and left the bottom alone. No too sure If i can take out that much material from the bottom of the port. I was also looking at port matching the exhause but the recommended the 1404 gasket and again there is alot of material there to remove. Did you do that?

Hey,

I charge 75.00 to port match most aluminum intakes (botom ports for heads, not runner ports) . I'm way to busy right now tho, and I don't usually get into mail-order porting..

It doesn't take long tho, if you have the right tools. If you buy assorted grinding and polishing stones, and a 3/8 drill you could prolly get it done in 2-3 hours if you take your time. Just make sure you _POLISH_ when your done. (the white stone) and then
use some emory cloth to smooth it out.

You can open up the runner ports a little bit. The jury is still out on the whole siamesing thing.

Some guys I know charge 200-500.00 to port intakes, and do weird things with the ports. Most of these guys are in their 60's, and I respect them but at the same time think their nuts.

If the intake runners don't have the meat to match the heads, you have some choices...get a new/different intake...or smaller heads, or as mentioned before, blend the intake back to the gaskets, remove a sharp transition for the reverb effect going back into the intake base...keep in mind you want the intake to be smaller than the head ports, by just a scooch.

I'd do it for you if you want. In fact, I used to have a whole website of sample photos for you to browse that shows my work on everything from a ported and powdercoated SLP/Accel TPI system to a reworked LT1 intake. However, a hacker killed the server between Christmas and New years, and now we are all poorer.

However, I can still gasket match your intake for $75. Email me if you want some pictures of my work, or else email some of my former customers: References can be furnished! []
