Any drawbacks to putting a Hypertech power chip in a 1985 T/A with a 5L TPI motor?? Just checking before I decide if I want to do this or not!

Re: Power Chip

How much you payin' for it? Seems to me, the money would be better spent getting the stuff to do your own tuning. There is a whole forum here for just suck a purpose.

Re: Power Chip

Over a Hypertech I’d say do the 870 to 165 ecm conversion.

Re: Power Chip

The only drawback to a Hypertech chip would be having too high of expectations on the benefits.

Re: Power Chip

You could ask this seller if this is for a computer controlled carb or tpi.

Re: Power Chip

I am new to all this ecm stuff. My other ride is a 67 GTO, all matching numbers....so much easier to work on! I am open to suggestions, as I have no preconceived notions. What does the ecm trade do, and, how difficult is it to do?

Just remember that at the end of the day, it's still just air, fuel and spark/timing. Same as carbs. I'm no expert, but I know EFI better than carbs. I'd love to learn how to tune a carburetor though!
