Better grounds solved random idle drop and die issue

Just passing along, I had a random at-idle engine drop out/die issue. About once a trip around town.

I added new ground paths (#12 THHN house wiring, stranded) for the engine to the body and another 8 AWG bond from the right fender to the battery.

I tied the the O2 sensor housing to ground with a hose clamp holding the stripped wire to the housing, a water pump bolt, and an intake manifold bolt - each with a dedicated ground to the body.

I added a dedicated ground to those major pieces that had sensors mounted in them. The water pump bolt was my way to get to the engine block itself (those bolts/threads had been cleaned recently).

In addition to the single action of adding grounds and the idle die problem never coming back after that, the gauges seem to be more solid as well and the engine "seems" to run more smoothly.

Interesting. Did you replace the OE ground wires?

Yeah, I have grounds all over the place. The engine did seem to run noticeably better after doing that.

I did not replace the exiting ground cables at the battery. They looked good. I did clean them up at the their contact points. I could not get to the ground straps at the back of the block so I left them in place.
