'89 PROM with '86 Runners
'89 PROM with '86 Runners
I am looking for a plug kit for my fuel rail(s) and runners from an '86 Camaro as I am using the PROM from an '89. Anyone know where I can get one and how much it will cost? Thanks guys!
Accel used to make these...I heard that theyre hard to come by now...LPE or Lingenfelter Performance Engineering used to sell them to block off the cold start valve on early runners. You can still try them and see if you can get one..theyre around 40 bucks for the kit.You get 3 pieces, one plug and one bracket to fit over the plug.Plus you get the rear block off screw for the rail.
If worse comes to worse and you cant find any kits, you can remove the CS valve and take it off the line and pop into the hole to seal it.Then use some epoxy inside the valve end to seal off the old fuel line hole.
The block off kit looks like the CS valve without the valve on the bracket.
Youll need to find a large block off screw for the rail though.
Or you can leave it all stock and just unplug the CS wire harness and leave the CS valve and fuel line where it is.As you know the 89 prom wont need it.
Let me know if you need a spare CS valve if you dont have the 86 one with you.I posted those suggestions assuming you had it.I may still have a spare one in my tool box.

I ran '89 code in an '88 TPI setup with the cold start injector for two years with no problems. Just disconnected the cold start injector and wire-tied it to the PCV hose to keep it secured.
