What is faster an L98 TPI camaro or L98 TPI trans am, im sure they are close to the same but i have heard that camaro's are a little lighter and have a better block and intake, i dont know if these are true, but i wuz wondering.....thanks for your help

 

the block and intake are identicle on both cars. The fastest TPI car was the Formula 350 with the G92 package. It was the only car with no ground effects and a 350 Tuned Port. I know somebody will differ from me but this is what i have learned.

 

i will differ from you on this one. the fastest l98 car was the 1le l98 cars they were lighter than the formula due to the lack of air conditioning. they also had a little better suspension wich in theroy could get them off the line a little quicker. the 1le cars were made in both the firebird and the camaro. the diffrence between the cars is insignificant. how ever in theroy the 1le would be fastest. It comes down to the driver in most cases. some cars were stronger than others it is just the luck of the draw. I do beleve that the 90 iroc is the fastest 3rd gen camaro.

 

The 92 Z28 would probably be the fastest TPI car stock. (Regular production, not special editions) We just did this post a while ago. I like how people think that just GFX (yes they are light) is something that will make a car signifigantly slower, but don't think heavy hide-away headlight mechanisms, lots of options, a more restrictive intake, and a more extensive interior, won't.

My $0.02..... I woul dhave to agree with the earlier response and say the Formula350 is the quickest.... but it is all luck of the draw. Also, a car can delete A/C... so it not just limited to certain cars. One of the guys in the local f-body club bought his 88 Formula 350 brand new, and deleted the A/C. He is running 13.8's with no internal engine mods and street tires. Although those times may improve, since he did a few more mods this winter.. but still no internal engine mods.

Good point on the 1LE cars though.... I am sure they are quick... and don't forget the Firehawk.....

 

Gotta friend that I heard ran a 9 flat in the 8th. Thats pretty badass Im pretty sure. T'was a 91Z
