so my car progressively went from running great to idling funny with sort of hard starts and now it wont start on its own at all...i turned the idle screw in a bunch and itll start and idle fine now (i know its only a bandaid)..is this a clear sign of a bad iac??

theres also a strange sort of tinging/grinding from the front of the engine..its VERY quiet though, idk if thats related at all, id guess not but figured id mention it anyway

Certainly sounds that way.

 

my thoughts exactly..guess ill order a new one and in the meantime, use my bandaid lol

edit..ordered new iac so we'll see soon

 

See if you can adjust the old one first, may just have moved.

 

it was tight when i took it out..was kind if dirty and a new one isnt too expensive

 

Make sure you do the reset procedure. Get your timing and idle screw set right along with your TPS voltage.

 

i read the ecu resets it by itself after you cruise at 35mph for a while? ill return the idle screw where it was obviously but yeah
