1985 Corvette (L98, automatic) Reprogram?
1985 Corvette (L98, automatic) Reprogram?
With a stock 1985 Corvette automatic transmission, is there any measurable performance increase (acceleration, namely) possible by re-tuning through the OBD1 using another chip? Are there any options to replacing the chip (piggy backing, custom eprom chip, etc.) that increase performance?

IMO the best performance change you could make would be to ditch the 870 ecm and use a 1227165.

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my question. I am pretty ignorant, but a quick learner, and I have a friend who is a great mechanic and electronics wizard who likes my new/old Vette. Could you tell me more about your suggestion? Do both sets of numbers refer to a different ecm? Are these associated with the 85 L98’s OBD1?

Here is a page on the differences between the 85 1226870 and the 86-89 1227165 ecm.
