Quick TPI throttle body question

I am going to go from carb to TPI in the future and I'm gathering parts and I'm looking at throttle bodies
car is a 87 I know 89 and up is different linkage but is there any advantage of early or later linkage, how about availability of TPI cables? I looked and I see TV cables but not much for throttle cables.
I did some searching and some recommended GM cables but they have since been discontinued So Im asking before I leap one way or the other
thanks for any input guys

Re: Quick TPI throttle body question

The 89-92 tpi wrap around cable offers smoother operation. The tv cables are the same for 85/92.

Re: Quick TPI throttle body question

Btw 89-92 Throttlebodys can be used on any year tpi plenum. 85-88 can be modified to work. The difference is the iac to manifold vacuum.

Re: Quick TPI throttle body question

For what it's worth, I tried an early style (Holley) throttle body on my 89 and couldn't stand the throttle linkage feel. I'm sure you'd get used to it but it was enough for me to change back.

Lokar will take care of a lot of your accelerator cable issues.
