I am absolutely losing my guano!! I can not get my #3 and #1 injectors to seal. They are Bosch 3s I purchased some years ago from Southbay and I can not get these two to seal tightly. I have replaced the orings twice, and lubbed them correctly- in fact I have done everything short of assemble the fuel rail and manifold submerged in a vat of Dawn dishwashing liquid- inserting the injectors in the manifold as directed and then pressing the fuel rail down and tightening the bolts to spec. Then, turn on the key and BOOM, TRUMP DOSSIER! Fuel comes hosing out.

It's gotten to the point I am thinking there is something wrong with the fuel rail. Has anyone else had this CONSISTENT problem? The others seem fine, it just these two buggers that are giving me FITS!

 

I don't think it's any deep dark mystery... A lot of aftermarket injectors are shorter than the original equipment. It's a bit of a wonder that everyone running shorter aftermarket injectors don't suffer leaks.

Could take a good look at the injector bungs in the fuel rail, check for crud or gouges that would prevent the O-rings from sealing...

 

Are u using the clips that hold the injectors in??if so don't use them.my buddy an I had this problem took those out an no more leaks...

 

I had always installed injectors into the rail first. When I received my Southbay injectors, I saw the instructions about installing them manifold first, so of course I did. I had leaks. Cleaned everything up and reinstalled, still had leaks. Installed them rail first, and no leaks. ...not sure exactly why they say mani first, and many have done this without issue, but I've never had issues going rail first.

Southbay's TPI injectors are modified to correct the height difference.

 

Have you tried moving them around to see if it follows the injectors? If it leaks no matter what injector is in #1/#3 position then figure out if it is from the rail or intake and go from there.

 

It's not especially complicated - if you are using older Bosch III's they may have updated adapters? Check with SouthBay.

Have you checked/replaced the o-rings between the injector and the adapter?

Otherwise the problem is the injector itself, or the rail, or the manifold. Check the sealing surfaces of each and check the rail for straightness, etc.

Not all fuel injector "o" rings are the same size. Some have different sizes from top to bottom. I had this problem in the past with my car when changing to larger injectors. Measure (you will need calipers) the outside and inside diameter and most important the thickness. I ordered and replaced all of them with the thicker ones and never had any more issues.

I'm not saying these will fit your car but just to compare.If you can measure yours and post, I can compare sizes.

 

Sorry guys just saw this post....our injectors are the exact same length as the stock injectors. We designed the adapter and the oring that fits onto the bottom of the injector to alleviate
the issue with fitment.

The orings that are used on the top of the injectors are 14mm. The ones on the bottom of our injectors that are used on the adapter
are custom made. Anytime an injector leaks from the rail it's oring or installation, if it's a bad or leaky injector it would leak from the bottom. And no, we have not updated our adapters at all. Did you lubricate the upper orings with liquid dish soap?
Sometimes the oring bends on itself inside the rail or gets a tear. You do have a stock intake correct???

 

I have been working with Southbay. They sent me out two different o-rings: a set of black ones and a set of brown ones. The black ones seem a little chubbier than the brown. Not much, but a LITTLE- sort of like comparing Kardashian's backsides... I put in the brown ones, since I had fatter black ones that were leaking and 'TOUCH WOOD' no leaks! I DO hope that has cured the problem... many thanks to the guys at Southbay Fuel Injectors.

Never read instructions on how to install,.... in practice I've always found injectors seat better fit when installing them in the fuel rail first.

I've experienced both instances on different occasions. 'Bending on itself' is more common, but I've seen them tear too.
