Fuel Injectors/PROMs

I have a couple questions about new fuel injectors and PROMs. I have a fully stock 92 Trans Am with a 305 TPI. I have an issue where 2 injectors are stuck open and my fpr is bad. I decided I want to install an afpr and put all new injectors in because this is the 3rd time I have a problem with one or more injectors. I have used GB reman injectors in the past and now they have failed. I have read about "bigger" injectors having a good affect on increasing fuel economy and smoother idle. I know that the 305 came with 19# injectors and was thinking about going with 22 or 24# injectors. I am going to be building a 350 TPI in the near future and was going to swap whatever injectors I get for my 305 into the new 350 once it is completed so I wanted to go with an injector that was big enough for the 350 that way I dont have to buy 2 sets of injectors.

I know that if I go with too large of an injector that I will have issues with the ecu. My questions are:

If I install 22 or 24# injectors, will I have to get a new PROM and have it tuned?

If I install the afpr with the bigger injectors, can I adjust the regulator low enough to where the bigger injectors will function correctly without having to mess with the PROM?

What would the max # injector be that I could use that would still run right with a stock ecu?

Re: Fuel Injectors/PROMs

Get Delphi’s 19#hr, anything else will need tuning.
the Bosch 3s are nice but you haven’t done any mods to warrant larger injectors.

Re: Fuel Injectors/PROMs

I did hear the Delphi's are alot better than the multecs that I currently have. Will the Delphi's possibly take care of the slight hesitation problem?
I have read alot of people have had the hesitation and throttle response issue with the factory multecs

Re: Fuel Injectors/PROMs

It’s hard to say what your hesitation is. Delphi’s would not require tuning.
the multecs coils often short out.

Re: Fuel Injectors/PROMs

The multec injectors are problematic. As Tuned Performance mentioned...they're prone to coil failure. Coils in an injector cannot be replaced or fixed.
We've received good feedback on the delphi's. We have them in stock. If we can help you in any way give us a call.
