Would broken coolant temp sender cause my engine to hardly run and not idle?
Would broken coolant temp sender cause my engine to hardly run and not idle?
This is probably a very stupid question. I am very impatient and apparently I destroyed the wire that is grounded to the head along with the actual ‘unit’ (coolant temp thing) while changing my exhaust headers. Not to mention, I messed up the oil tube and the dipstick will not go in. Now the car won’t idle and sounds terrible when it runs. I did remove the plugs on the passenger side for better access. They and their wires are now on correctly and in the correct place. I am no where near a mechanic and just recently started doing stuff to my car so please go easy on me. Thanks

Yes. Happened on a Toyota my wife had. The ECM gets wrong information and cannot manage the air/fuel/spark properly..

The switch in the cylinder head between cylinder 6 & 8 is for the operation of the secondary fan only. It will not effect engine running.

Thanks for the response. I just read that on another forum as well. Now I’m very confused why it runs terribly and can’t idle. I made sure the wires were correct.

When you say wires are you referring to spark plug wire orientation?
